Glow Games

It has been so stinkin' hot here that we have been making up games to play at night since you don't want to move at all during the day. It was 98 degrees today. It is still 80 degrees
at 930 pm.

We love playing flashlight hide and seek. It adds a new level of fun to the game. I thought it was going to give Addy nightmares after the first night but so far so good and she loves it.

Tonight I hide glow in the dark stars in the lawn and Addy had to find them with her glow stick. The stars did not glow like I had hoped but it was fun anyway.

I captured glow stick pics while Addy ran around outside.

Piggy Cookies

Today we made Piggy Cookies. Double Stuff Oreo's covered in white chocolate (turned pink) and decorated with marshmallows and M&M's. Messy and fun.

Last Week

Our garden is coming along nicely. The tomatoes are trying hard to turn red, we have corn cobs and the potatoes will be ready any day now
( I think. I pretty much have no idea what I am doing.)

We hung the bird houses we painted. Bet you can't tell which one is mine.

We have been working on the back yard. We took out the gazebo skeleton and replaced it with a few folding umbrellas. I sold our patio chairs at our garage sale and we replaced them with some nice folding chairs that the animals hopefully won't pick apart.

These little changes equal a big improvement and we have been spending a lot of time outside.

Addy loves the idea of marshmallows but not the taste. She helped make s'mores but she wouldn't eat any.

Craft Of The Day

I asked Addy what she wanted to do when she woke up from her nap this afternoon and without hesitation she replied "PAINT!"

I broke out the foam hearts that Grandma sent her awhile back along with some paint and glitter and she set to work creating her masterpieces.

I wanted a way to showcase each piece so I bound them into a book and added a poem...

A Pink Poem
Pink, Pink
I Love Pink.
I Color in Pink,
On Pink,
With Pink Ink.
I Think In Pink,
I Drink in Pink,
I Even Stink in Pink!
Pink, Pink
I Love Pink!

a poem by Mommy

Yep, poetry is not for me either. Slowly I am eliminating prospective careers!

The 4th, A Day Late

Well last night our weather looked like this
so the city postponed the fireworks until tonight.

We relaxed on the boat and enjoyed some ice cream before the show.

I think someone is excited about fi-re-works!

Addy said her favorite fireworks were the big orange ones.
I had to laugh at Addy the other day when she told me that
"fireworks lived in Wyoming" (where they sell all the big illegal ones you can't get in Colorado).
John and Colton told her that one.

This is my only good shot of the fireworks, the rest I hid highlighted in this collage.

It is so nice being able to watch the show from the lake and not have to deal with crowds and traffic!

Happy 4th!

Our 4th of July...So Far

Addy and Grandpa rode in a neighborhood parade, sort of. It kind of fell apart as they came around the corner, but a fun idea.

I made this firework hat for Addy and she wore it for quite awhile. I am so proud of that hat! It is made out of foam board, duct tape and pipe cleaners. Super Fun!

I had her captive (wrapped in a towel) and took advantage with some close-ups

We are waiting to see how the rest of the evening goes. We have dark clouds, thunder and wind right now. Keeping our fingers crossed that it blows over in the next couple hours so we can see the fireworks.

Two rainbow sightings in a week, how lucky!
