My Own Computer

John has been tossing around the idea of buying Addy her own computer for the last week or so.
It is not uncommon for her to announce "I need to check something", march down the hall, hop up on the desk chair and start typing away on our desktop computer (I think I must have said that a time or two). If we are on the internet she loves it when we let her use the scroll wheel on the mouse to move the page up and down.

So tonight the three of us went to shop for laptops. You should have seen us in the isles of Target discussing the finer points of each computer, you'd thing we were buying a real one.

"This one comes with a mouse but I don't like the programs."
"This one is nice I just wish the screen was bigger."
"I think the buttons on this one are two small for her."

The whole time we were reviewing our options Addy was happily playing with the floor model demo computer. She refused to leave until she realized that she was getting one and then insisted on carrying it around the store.

On the ride home she played with her laptop on her lap repeatedly saying "Look, I have my own computer!"

Needless to say John is very proud of himself right now!

I Wanna Go Swimming

It took about a week for Addy to talk Grandpa Jim into taking her swimming again. Addy has been taking swimming "lessons" from Grandpa Jim since she was 6 months old.

She loves the water, which is just amazing to me. She will hold onto Grandpa's hands and lift her legs up so she can float around the pool or walk around with her mouth open scooping up water like a little fish.

The little kids area of the pool is only 27 inches deep so she can walk around comfortably.

Daddy showed Addy how to make a snowman today (and he took pictures!)

We got 8 inches of snow last week. It's hard to believe looking at these pictures, it has melted so fast.

Addy's Mommy Turned 30

I turned 30 almost a month ago. It was definitely one of my favorite birthdays and so far I like how 30 fits!

I have spent many hours trying to pick a song to go with this slideshow but nothing worked. So enjoy the silent movie.

Addy's First Visit to the Dentist

Addy joined her Daddy at the dentist this morning. We all had to get up at O'Dark-Thirty to be in Windsor at 7 am.


This appointment started out okay. Addy sat in my lap and the assistant let her play with the tools, her favorite being the little round mirror (shocker, I know). Then she got to pick out a new toothbrush. Addy let the assistant polish about 4 teeth with the high powered polisher then she insisted on switching to manual. She wasn't about to let the lady squirt water into her mouth so I'm sure the lingering taste of that tooth paste was nice.
Addy was being as cooperative as a 2 year old can be until the dentist arrived. All six feet four inches and 240 pounds of him. At that point Addy was DONE. She cried, she hid, she peeked at him then hid and cried some more. If you ain't my daddy you ain't touchin' me! Once he gave up and left she kept an eye on the hallway for the rest of the visit to make sure he wasn't going to sneak up on her again.
We spent the rest of the visit watching Daddy get his teeth cleaned. Addy was fascinated by it. If you ever have the opportunity to see your spouse have their teeth cleaned, pass. There is nothing attractive, appealing, sexy, interesting...about it! I enjoy a nice set of pearly whites and a nice steak. I don't need to see the what goes on "behind the scenes" to get them in that condition.



Addy walked out of the dentists office with two toys from the toy chest and a new toothbrush which brings this weeks Gifts from Strangers total to 5.

Addy's First Hair Cut

Addy visited Aunt Beth's Salon yesterday for her first hair cut. Addy has very curly hair. When it's wet you can tell how long it is but otherwise it spends it's day in a frizzy little crown around her head.

Addy was so good. She sat still and let Beth comb, cut, and primp.

While Addy sat in the chair she made introductions to everyone that came in...

"That is Daddy and that is Mommy."

When Beth finished she told Addy that she looked just like a princess now and Addy replied

"I'm not a princess, I'm Addy."
I can't make this stuff up!

Addison has become quit the talker and we are learning (maybe a little too slowly) that she picks up on E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G that is said around her. We have had some interesting moments and memorable quotes as of late...

I asked Addy last night if she had spilled her juice on her shirt. She looked at the stain then back and me and replied "No... no I don't think so."

John called me last night with a "you won't believe what your daughter said" story. John said Addy came running into the kitchen, stopped, looked around for a second and then asked
"What the f@#k is going on in here?" {Did I just hear...}
"What the f@#k is going on in here?" {Yes I did}
I SWEAR I don't know where that one came from!

Last week Addy and John were sitting at the kitchen table when the following conversation occurred...

Addy: "I want to go see Rachel."
John: "What did you just say?!"
Addy: "Um, I want to go see Rachel-Mommy?"
John: "How about just Mommy."
Addy: "Oh, okay."

And we thought we had been so clever with our code names!

The Wonderful World of Pooh

I couldn't help myself! It was either that or "Princess Has A Thrown" and since it is a Winnie the Pooh potty, Pooh won out.

Addy got her first potty today and she is soooo excited about it. She pestered us the whole time we were putting groceries away asking us if we could open up her potty. As you can see she supervised the assembly and the chair was submited for QA right away.

I love the effect on these pictures. I think it makes the collage look circa 1970.
